There is an incredibly amazing story behind my move to Mason, though I'd be way too long winded to tell it all here, I will have to stick with the short web approved version...
Nearly 10 years ago, I had a strong desire to eliminate the stress that seemed to consume my life and just get "back to basics." I left San Antonio and a wonderful RE/MAX group to relocate to this beautiful, charming...and small...hill country town.
I really wanted my 3 daughters to enjoy a childhood much like my own, you know the one, where you jumped on your bike and rode to your friend's house, got home before the street lights came on and then slept in tents out in the backyard under the stars. (Of course, we always spotted at least 1 UFO...)
With a prayer and a deep breath, I walked away and into the unknown, leaving behind the noise, the busyness and the endless traffic jams. I gave up my costly Starbucks habit and traded it for Friday night football games and quietly reading on my back porch with a giant glass of iced tea.
I now enjoy a peaceful life where I am always only minutes from where I need to be. I've taken up gardening and I've even learned to make a delicious pecan pie. I also enjoy, writing and playing music. Most importantly though, is the extra time that I've been able to spend with my family. Two are just this past year finally leaving the nest and I still get teary eyed when I think of how the years have come and gone so quickly. For a big city girl, it hasn't always been easy here. There's a lot that I've had to get used to and a lot that I just had to let go.
However, I truly believe that anything worth having, is worth persevering for. And for me, this is the good life. It is a quality of life that you cannot put a price on. Having been a realtor now for almost 18 years, I enjoy this job tremendously! I love to work with new people moving in to the community and enjoy making them feel welcome and "at home."
There is such a diverse mix of newcomers...yes, we get some of the retirement but crowd, but what is really amazing and wonderful to see are all of the new families with children of all ages who've decided that they too want this "Mayberry" kind of life for their families. Then there are the hunters, the fishermen/women, kayakers & allaround sport enthusiasts!
Whether it's Mason, or somewhere else, I really do encourage you to take a chance, move in faith and BELIEVE that the wonderful life you dream of is right around the corner!
Oh, yes, I'm also a member of the Gillespie County Board of Realtors, the Texas Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors and the Multi-Million Dollar & Executive Clubs. |
